I offer expert, cogent analysis on the regulatory and business realities in the life sciences, biotech, med devices & healthcare industries.
Hi and thanks for taking the time to read about me! I am a bit of a strange egg, in that I have an exact balance between left and right brain skills: I enjoy creative writing as much as I love copy editing (or "bluebooking," as we called it in law school); dreaming up a business plan as much as calculating the annual budget. This is why I am pursuing freelance journalism work at the same time as I start my own nonprofit biotech journalism platform, BetterBio, during the day: both sides of the brain need satisfaction.
My heroes include Alicia Mundy (WSJ), David Evans (Bloomberg) and Luke Timmerman (Xconomy). All three of these writers have delved into the pharma/biologics field with passion, dedication and a commitment to the truth. I share their passion, dedication and commitment.
My writing style can range from the academic to the informal, depending on the audience: I have written for a legal textbook, a public health manual, middle school curricula and a healthcare business journal (OneMedPlace.com). My commitment to objectivity steers me away from marketing copy, so please only contact me for stories, columns or research supporting journalistic pursuits.
My key areas of expertise include: FDA law; small and mid-cap biotechs; mid-cap medical device companies; university tech transfer and licensing agreements; biosimilar law and production; Indian, Brazilian and Bangladeshi generic law (3d, especially) and production; patent litigation; the intersection of patent and antitrust law; comparative EU and US law regarding patents, life science regulation and copyright; contract analysis and relative advantage; biodiversity; bioprospecting/biopiracy; antibiotic development; drug-resistant disease; biofuels, including: oil palm, sugar palm, algae, canola, soy and microbe-biomass interaction; HIT including: HIE, EHRs, EMRs, ACOs, HITECH Act, ARRA, and private incentive plans; trade secret law and takings clause in re: mining patient data; biologic manufacture, storage, transportation and immunogenicity issues; and lots more fun stuff you can feel free to ask me about. I love the biological sciences and want the excuse to write about them all the time. So please, if you need something written, give me the opportunity to geek out and provide you with a quality piece on something that fascinates me - I won't do you wrong!

Respectfully yours,
